Services for Young Children (up to 5 years)
Children’s brains develop more by their third birthday than during any other time in their life. This is the time when they learn how to think, solve problems, cope with stress, be creative and communicate. Much has been learned over the last decade about how the architecture of a child’s brain is formed. While genes provide the blueprint for the brain, early relationships and experiences guide how the brain is built. We partner with parents and caregivers to create a nurturing, supportive environment so that their children can reach their full potential.
Types of Services
We offer a wide range of services for families with young children, many of which are provided right in the home:
- Parenting skills building for first-time parents.
- Counseling services for pregnant or parenting women with mental health or substance use concerns.
- Counseling and case management for families that are at risk of child abuse or neglect.
- Consultative services for children at risk of being expelled from day care or child care programs.
- Mental health services for young children and their families.
- Services for young children affected by HIV/AIDS or parental substance use.
- Group services to help parents whose children are in out-of-home placements develop the parenting skills they need to bring their children back home.
